carrier, its business operations are affected by different external factors at the national and
international levels. Its primary stakeholders, however, have the leverage to propel the company
towards profit-making and financial improvements. The firm can adopt strategies such as
facilitating alliances, driving effective customer service, driving total vertical integration,
fostering favorable operating models, and ensuring effective marketing campaigns. The
operations of the company have given rise to different matters that have brought controversy in
the firm’s corporate social responsibility role. This controversial CSR is majorly in
environmental pollution. The company has fallen victim to air, sound, and water pollution within
its regions of operations. Delta Airlines can be regarded to have strong primary stakeholders who

Primary stakeholders are vital in influencing the financial position and offering economic
leverage to a company. One of the strategies that can be adopted by the employees and the

focusing on a reliable customer service facilitated by the company employees. This includes

point to different kinds of clients. The airline should also facilitate efficiency in booking and

number of flights. This also reflects on the profit margins of the company. The fifth factor is
facilitating a full vertical integration on the jet fuel that they produce (Almansur, Megginson &
Pugachev, 2018). This will see all Delta airline planes use the jet fuel that the company produces.
Such efforts will facilitate saving of millions of cash that can further be used to fund other
endeavors. Vertical integration also helps in promoting a reduction of operations costs and
maximization of profits.
Controversial Corporate Social Responsibility
Delta Airlines has a corporate social responsibility towards maintaining a clean and safe
environment within its operations. However, this has actively grown as a controversial issue as
its operations have continually led to environmental pollution. For instance, airline operations
have created noise, thus affecting the quality of life for people living near airports. Consequently,
there is a lot of wastes that gets out of the airports and its refinery in the form of runoff water.
The company has minimally addressed this, leading to negative impacts in the water ecosystem.
Delta Airlines also contributes to substantial levels of air pollution by the creation and release of
smog from the fuel refinery and by the release of gaseous emissions by the planes in their
operations route (Seo, Moon & Lee, 2015). The effect of these gaseous products is intense as it
leads to acidic rain and is a contributing factor towards global warming. This remains
controversial as the company has done less in addressing the issue. The national laws on
pollutions have also minimally addressed different levels of contaminations emerging from
airports and airlines.
With a concentration in offering flight services, third party maintenance services, and
refinery of jet fuel, Delta Airlines has a good range of services and products to offer in the
market. It also has a wide range of primary stakeholders such as suppliers, customers,
employees, and investors who play different roles in facilitating a robust financial position for
the giant airline player. The adoption of various policies and different kinds of facilitation is of
