Procurement in Project Management
Just about every project has to procure items in order to execute the project successfully.
Therefore, procurement is a vital process that includes purchasing products or services, as well as
other resources. In order to successfully execute procurement, four processes are involved,
including plan procurement management, conduct procurements, control procurements, and
close procurements. These processes ensure a project is completed within budget and schedule
constraints. This document intends to evaluate procurement processes, as well as Walmart’s
strategies in the procurement process.
1.
Discuss the procurement process
● Plan Procurement Management- this process recognizes the need to
procure an item, procurement plan and strategy, and deciding to make or
buy.
● Conduct Procurements- this process involves selecting vendors to supply
products or services.
● Control Procurements- during this process the execution of the
procurement is monitored to control the quality and schedule as well as
monitoring for any risk that may occur.
● Close Procurement- this final phase involves finish and closing the
procurement, at this point the contract has been fulfilled and can be
terminated. This phase can be repeated multiple times depending on the
number of contracts.
